Resident Evil: Retribution, was set to start production in Toronto and Tokyo on October 10. With Milla Jovovich more or less confirmed, what wasn’t known was whether Paul W.S. Anderson would return to direct. Now, news comes via Bloody Disgusting that the duo will be reprising their respective roles in front of and behind the camera.
Bloody-Disgusting also reports that Sienna Guillory, who previously confirmed her return to Retribution as Jill Valentine via Twitter, actually isn’t coming back and will be recast.
Other characters that will need to be cast are popular Resident Evil video game character Barry Burton, who was a member of S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics And Rescue Service), and Leon Scott Kennedy, a U.S. Government agent, and previously an officer for the Raccoon City Police Department. Both popular characters, it looks like Jovovich’s claim that she and Anderson were going to ask fans for input on Retribution in fact happened.
Story details for Retribution are being kept under wraps, but anyone that saw Afterlife probably has an idea of what Alice might be up against. What isn’t known is whether Retribution will be shot in 3-D, but considering the financial boost it gave Afterlife, it’s likely.
